If Ralph Lauren is the king of American sportswear, then Michael Bastian is surely its prince. For the past several years Michael has been busy setting not only the standard for American sportswear, but for menswear at large. He is, in my opinion, the best in his field right now and absolutely my favorite menswear designer. Which is why the man won the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Award for Menswear Designer of the Year last year, and was nominated each of the previous four.
Michael’s keen gift for design is usurped only by his eye for style. Each of the models walked the runway perfectly styled to tell a thorough story of who the Michael Bastian man is for Fall ’12. Michael is incredibly tight and consistent with his brand experience, while evolving his customer from season-to-season and year-to-year. With an expert use of color and luxurious fabrics Michael gave us the perfect pieces for not just a wardrobe, but a lifestyle. One to aspire to.
