Wear Don Draper’s Suit
November 3, 2009 4 Comments

Brooks Brothers is bringing back classic ’60s men’s style with their Mad Men suit. It may not make you Don Draper (or John Hamm), but you’ll look dapper trying.
Brooks Brothers say the suit is “directly inspired by the razor sharp 1960s tailoring favored by the characters of Don Draper (played by Jon Hamm) and Roger Sterling (played by John Slattery), the “Mad Men Edition” suit has been reinterpreted for today by award-winning costume designer Janie Bryant: slimmer than our Fitzgerald fit and featuring period details. The hand-finished, American-made suit evokes the clean style and sophistication of the early 1960s. Offered in a “static” grey sharkskin fabric, the 2-button jacket features narrow lapels, hacking pockets and side vents.”

Brooks Brothers has put together a lookbook with the suit, their inspiration, and details of the design process. View on Fashion also has a gallery of the suit and look. And as a bonus, check out Blackbook’s Mad Men fashion write up for the character’s style backstories.
