Barack Obama’s campaign for president was unique, hopeful and inspiring in so many ways.  It also broke the standard campaign mold of lowest-common-denominator red white and blue graphics. He provided you can run a winning, patriotic campaign without resorting to tired (and ugly) visual cliches.  Obama’s hopeful graphics also inspired artistic expression.  Art for Obama examines the product of that expression. The publisher described the book this way:

Comprised of collages, paintings, photo composites, prints, and computer-generated pieces, Art for Obama showcases the well-known images of the campaign as well as less famous but equally creative pieces from around the globe. This is a volume for design and art aficionados, as well as supporters of the 44th President of the United States who want a keepsake as uncommon as his extraordinary campaign.

Read more from the publisher’s site, or from Amazon.com.  Look at NYMag.com’s slideshow for a preview. If you want the author’s take on his book, read NYMag.com’s interview with Shepard Fairey. And lest you think Obama’s shine has worn off, Fairey has a good point “Obama’s drop in popularity is symptomatic of a psychological flaw in the American populace in general: the tendency to blame whoever’s at the control, whether the situation they’re in control of was created or was inherited by them.”
