Gratuitous – Tom Ford

We haven’t posted about Tom lately.  And we neglected his birthday (Aug. 27th) last week.  So in honor of the Mr. Ford’s birthday here is our favorite image from the fall campaign. Happy Birthday, Tom.  If you’re ever in San Francisco, look us up, we’ll show you a good time. Enjoy!

Obsession – Rag & Bone

So I’ve gotten a few notes from friends and reads asking where the MD Fall list is. Well, frankly, I haven’t been that inspired. And beyond those things that most of you know you should have for fall (Red Wings, authentic plaids, raw denim, etc.), I just haven’t been feeling anything in particular.  Until today.  Meet the wool Gladstone bag from our friends at Rag & Bone.  I’m in love.  It feel warm and retro, and modern and chic all at the same time.  It’s asking me to spend a weekend in New York and to take a ski trip in Vermont. I’m there.  And you can pick it up at Saks.

End of an Era

“I Die!”

PaperProject08_206Rquik_eThe Rachel Zoe Project premiered its second season tonight on Bravo, and as to be expected it was “Bananas.”  Rachel was fabulous as always getting stars ready for the Golden Globe Awards, but the real star of this show is Brad Goreski. You may think this show is all about the dresses and those “Cinderella” moments that Rachel and Team Zoe create, but it really isn’t.  It’s all about Brad and what Brad is wearing. The boy has impeccable style and is cute, witty, and sarcastic without being obnoxious.  The bow ties, the glasses, the cardigans are perfection. He has a true sense of personal style and rocks it hard.  I’d love to see him start styling men on the show.  Thanks to Brad for making Monday’s my favorite night on TV.

Fall Into The Gap

gap jeans

If you haven’t heard yet, GAP re-launched their jeans collections this week.  And not just by adding a new name, 1969. They completely rethought their entire jean collection for both women and men. With completely reinvented fits and styles, GAP is once again giving you a reason to “Fall into the GAP.”  These premium jeans don’t come with a premium price, and starting at $59.50, they are something we can all get into.  The collection is getting rave reviews, and after stopping by my local GAP last night, I left with three pair. And quite possibly the best jeans I’ve purchased (at any price) in a very long time.  Gap has also launched a microsite, Born To Fit, where Patrick Robinson (head of design) discusses the various new styles and provides some style tips.

Michael Kors Talks to George @ Vanity

michael-korsThe Project Runway fashionisto got the Q&A treatment from George Wayne at Vanity Fair. The designer talks about fashion (of course), Barbie, Camaros, the three M’s (one is not Madonna…), and the importance of timing, among other things.  No dish on the network drama over the last year or so regarding PR’s move from Bravo to Lifetime (note both networks have PR websites up and running). We wonder if Mr. Kors is concerned with a loss in show popularity with the move?

Valet Sits Down w/ Frank Muytjens

Frank MuytjensOne of my favorite web mags devoted to menswear, Valet, sat down with the menswear designer of one of my favorite brands, J.Crew. Frank Muytjens has been the head of menswear at J.Crew for a little more than a year and discusses how as a Dutch man his love for Americana has evolved. Read the full story HERE. In addition to bringing us endlessly classic American menswear, Frank is responsible for partnering with iconic American brands, like Red Wing, to help bring the brand alive as a true lifestyle brand. And with his history at Ralph Lauren, he’s probably the perfect man to do it.
