Pitti Uomo: Tailored Prep

0619pittiI’m loving this. The Moment over at NYTimes.com has a great breakdown of Pitto Uomo 2010, and how the Italian suit designers are handling the recession.  (Oh, and what is Pitto Uomo? See here.) Seems guys just aren’t buying suits like they used to.  The response, says The Moment: “Jackets and suits have been deconstructed, washed and sometimes even distressed to create a more casual air, a more multiple-usage garment to accommodate the new career class that, while not necessarily suit-requiring, still needs or wants an element of structure in its wardrobe, one with ease and more flexibility than the traditional business uniform.” It’s very Banana Republic meets J.Crew meets Italian prep.

  1. Pitti Uomo was my first fashion fair ever. I had no idea at the time what a huge deal it was and felt like a fish out of water once I arrived at the fortessa (where it is held). that said, it is the most amazing clothes, beautiful people and more inspiration that you can absorb without wanting to burst.
