Obsession: Wagoneer

wagoneerI’ve been obsessed with Jeep Grand Wagoneers since I was a child.  There is something about their simplicity, classic lines, hulk, and big open windows that draws me in.  I’ve always wanted one.  I can imagine cruising down the PCH, all the windows down, and dog in the back.  But alas they are hard to find in good condition today without spending upwards of $25K – $30k on an already restored model.   But I’m on the lookout, and for the right Wagoneer (blue, wood paneled, tan leather) I’d be up for the restoration challenge.  Perhaps I’ll buy a lottery ticket tonight….

Trend Report

The boys at MEN.STYLE.COM sent me a note about their spring trend report:

“With a new President, a new year, and a new economy, new styles inevitably follow. The Spring trend report from Men.Style.com identifies three new trends for men:

    • Team America: Barack Obama’s popularity at home and abroad ushers in American-inspired styles from all over the world. And not some waspy, over-idealized version of the place, either, but the real America, home to cookouts, road trips, and baseball (by which we mean baseball jackets.)
    • Creative Loafing: This Spring trend has guys looking relaxed, and maybe a little bit in need of a shower, even when toiling over the latest macho masterpiece. For a certain artistically-inclined tough guy, it’s all about working hard and looking lazy.
    • The New Severity:  The season’s most fashion-forward trend doesn’t just embrace the future, it helps shape it.  How?  With rigor, clarity, and clean lines for a dirty world.  Playful, it’s not, but then, serious times call for serious clothes.

Boat shoes, tailored khaki suits, slouchy neo-railroad pants, black aviators and leather trimmed Levis are some of the few items on the agenda for Spring 2009.  To view the full story, please visit: http://men.style.com/fashion/trend_report/030409/team

Just Duckie

llbean-boots3Perhaps it’s all the rain in SF lately or my own nostalgia kicking in, but I’ve been obsessed with L.L. Bean’s duck boots.  I’ve seen them popping up more and more all over town.  And today while watching a TiVo’d episode of the Barefoot Contessa, Ina’s friend T.R. was sporting them.  Needless to say, a pair will be winging their way to me shortly.

Bare Armani

The new Armani Exchange ad campaign is stirring up controversy….

Carga

carga-messengerIts another cold, rainy day in SF, and I’ve spent a good portion of the day hopping around the web. I stumbled across Carga, a company that makes some of the most gorgeous handmade bags I have ever seen. They pride themselves on “using construction techniques in unexpected ways.”  Gorgeous.  The leather looks amazing. Vegetable died, riveted, with detachable iPod accessories.
