Everything Old is New Again

A look from the John Rich & Bros. line for Woolrich

A look from the John Rich & Bros. line for Woolrich

I’ve been in a real funk  lately.  It’s been cold and dreary here in San Francisco, which hasn’t helped my mood at all.  But earlier this week, the sun came out.  And I began to shed the funk.  I firmly believe in seasonal affective disorder.  It’s amazing what the sun can do for your soul.

So, I’ve been examining my funk.  And I’ve also been examining what’s going on in the fashion world in light of the macro-economic environment.  It seems that everything old is new again.  There appears to be a collective craving for things that remind us of a better time.  For instance, it seems a long ago faded American icon is back and better than ever.  Woolrich was once a staple of American life, known for its work-wear and that unmistakable black buffalo check.  Now the brand is having a bit of a resurrection from a Bologna, Italy based licensee, WP Lavori.  And WP is looking to broaden its distribution of its label Woolrich John Rich & Bros.  Look for the label to start making its way into U.S. department stores over the next month.

You can also look to the inspired eyewear coming from Selima for J.Crew, and Moscot.
