Dancing in the Rain

Was at Bloomingdale’s today and spotted these fab new Hunter boots ($135).  A bit shorter than your traditional “Wellie”, they’re a modern fun take on a great classic.  They’d look fab with a pair of khakis or tweed trousers tucked into them.

Let’s Talk Shoes

Who doesn’t love shoes?  It’s time for a new fall wardrobe, and you can’t forget your feet. Here are my picks for the fall.

1. Let’s start with the basics.  Jack Purcell by Converse is a shoe that every man should own. Available at J.Crew

2.  Moving on to the loafer.  A wardrobe is not complete without a good penny loafer. My absolute fav is the “Asher” penny loafer from Banana Republic

3.  There is nothing like a good driving moc.  And who does the driving moc better than Tod’s?  LOVE these patent Gommino driving mocs.  Available at Barney’s New York.

4.  Gotta have a boot.  This year, it’s all about the classics.  I love these two 1) Red Wing Rugged Classics at J.Crew, 2)  Mohave Desert Boots at Martin & Osa

All About Michael

So far this week, for me, the standout in the menswear collections for Spring ’09 is Michael Bastian.  The collection is classic American sportswear at its best.  Preppy, chic, all American, and fun.  Michael’s choice of cuts and color (pinks, blue’s and neutrals) are spot on, and I am particularly enamoured with the cut, and rough edges of the shorts shown in the show. The throwback 70′s sensibility is fabulous.  It makes you want to go sailing in the Hamptons and then hit up Studio 54.  Check out the full collection HERE courtesy of men.style.com

Rag & Bone

Check out THIS review from the NYTimes on this week’s menswear shows.

And finally the skinny leg appears to be gone (at least we hope), “At John Bartlett’s atypically quiet men’s show on Thursday, there was little reason to send out one model wearing a tight polo shirt and trim shorts, let alone two, if not to show off the physical prowess of the bodies underneath. The news here was a wider pants leg, which looked not only right, but should also come as welcome relief to men exhausted by trying to fit their calves into skinny jeans.” wrote Eric Wilson in the Times review.
